Become a Historical Society Volunteer
The easiest way to get involved with the Historical Society is to become a volunteer. Here are some ways you can help:
Museum Docent
- Docents provide guided tours of the Oak Park River Forest Museum. To be a docent, you must have a love of local history and interact well with the public. Training will be provided.
Research Center
- Consider contributing your time supporting activities at the Society's research center. Your duties include maintaining and updating our biographical and subject files, clipping recent newspapers for relevant articles, database entry, and filing. Training will be provided.
General Office
- Your administrative skills would be a valuable asset at the Society. Office volunteers are needed to collate mailings, make copies, file or perform database entry.
Special Events
- Our many community events and programs would not be possible without the commitment and contributions of volunteers. From fundraising events to house walks, seminars, presentations and meetings, there are plenty of opportunities for you to join others in the fun and challenge of event planning and coordination.
For more information about volunteer opportunities, call the Society at (708) 848-6755 or email at
